Sobo Vase in Pot Pourri

£12.00

When on holiday visiting family in America one summer I came across a potter who described his tiny vases as granny vases. After asking why, he explained that these vases were intended for the tiny flowers and buds a grandchild might pick from the garden and give to their granny. I adored the thought of this, and when I started making ceramics I knew granny vases would be on my making list.

Sobo in Japanese refers specifically to your own granny.

Handbuilt vase using a flecked stoneware clay body and a textured pot pourri glaze. Carefully pinched to create an organic shape. This vase is small enough to fit inside an egg carton, it is ideal for tiny bouquets. It is also fully watertight so can be used for both fresh and dried flowers.
