Kata Vase in Sandy

£15.00

When I first started making vessels I never had particular shapes or profiles in mind, I was merely playing with the clay. As I made more I became drawn towards the vessels that had prominent shoulders, and even more so the ones that gave a pleasing asymmetrical profile. They reminded me of my Uncle Jim, and his endearingly ‘squinty shoulders’, that always get made fun of.

Kata is Japanese for shoulder.

Round bodied bud vase featuring strong shoulders and a slightly fluted neck. Ideal for a mini bouquet. They are handbuilt using the technique pinching, giving them a lovely organic surface texture. Made with a flecked stoneware clay body and soft sandy glaze. These vases are suitable for both fresh and dried flowers.

Approximate dimensions 80mm h x 60mm w
